Consulting arborist working across Northern Gold Coast
The northern Gold Coast is one of the fastest-developing corridors in the country, laid over former cane and grazing land threaded with waterways. Adam De Regt is an AQF Level 5 consulting arborist — independent of any tree contractor, and engaged for the assessment and the document rather than the work that follows.

The trees here
What grows in Northern Gold Coast, and what that means on site
Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau were cane and grazing country before they were suburbs, so the tree population is uneven in a particular way: long stretches of recent planting on cleared ground, punctuated by remnant stands and individual paddock trees that were left standing when the rest came out. Those survivors are usually the oldest and most significant trees in any given estate.
The waterways are the constant. Broad-leaved paperbark, swamp mahogany, forest red gum and casuarina line the creeks and canals through Coomera, Helensvale and Hope Island, on ground that sits low and holds water. Root systems there are shallow and wide, which matters for both stability and for anything proposing to excavate nearby.
Because so much of the corridor is being built at once, a large share of the arboricultural work here is development-side: what can be retained, what protection a retained tree needs while the estate is under construction, and certifying at the end that the protection actually held.
City of Gold Coast extends well south of where Adam ordinarily travels. The confirmed service area runs to about Helensvale, which is why these pages cover the northern Gold Coast rather than the city as a whole. Work further south is considered for suitable projects rather than assumed.

How it runs
What happens after you send the address
The shape of an engagement in the northern Gold Coast is the same as anywhere else Adam works. What changes locally is what the trees are doing and which council determines it.
- 01
The enquiry, and what it settles
The address, what you are proposing and any condition you have already received. That is frequently enough to establish which report type applies — and occasionally enough to establish that you do not need one, which is a better outcome than a report you did not require.
- 02
The site visit
Adam attends the property in the northern Gold Coast and inspects the tree. Measurements are recorded rather than estimated — diameter at the correct height, canopy spread, the defects actually present — because everything downstream is calculated from those numbers.
- 03
The report
Prepared to the requirement that applies, using the document name that requirement uses. Where City of Gold Coast is involved, that means the terminology the council itself uses rather than a generic report retitled.
- 04
Follow-through
Where an application allows it, Adam can lodge on your behalf and handle council queries. Where an approval requires supervision during works or certification once they are finished, that is part of the same engagement rather than a new one.

Common questions
Working in the northern Gold Coast
The confirmed service area runs south to about Helensvale, so these pages cover the northern end of the city rather than all of it. City of Gold Coast as a council area extends a long way past that. Projects further south are considered rather than assumed — ask.
Not necessarily, and it is worth establishing the position now rather than at handover. Construction damage to a retained tree is frequently recoverable if it is identified while the site is still active, and what happened gets recorded either way. Where an approval requires the completed works to be certified, that record is what the certification rests on.
Yes — Northern Gold Coast sits inside the ordinary service area, which runs north to about Noosa, south to about Helensvale and west to about Ipswich. Work outside those bounds is considered for suitable projects rather than assumed.
That is a check against the address and City of Gold Coast mapping rather than a judgement about the tree, and it frequently does not need a site visit. It is worth settling first, because if the vegetation is not protected a good deal of the question falls away.
No, and that is deliberate. This is a consultancy — the assessment, the report and the supervision. Adam holds no stake in the physical work that follows, which is what allows the recommendation to be whatever the tree warrants rather than whatever generates a job.
