Consulting arborist working across Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast is two environments a short drive apart — deep-soil hinterland rainforest on the range and exposed sandy coastal country below it. Adam De Regt is an AQF Level 5 consulting arborist — independent of any tree contractor, and engaged for the assessment and the document rather than the work that follows.

An address in Sunshine Coast is often enough to establish what is involved before anything is commissioned.

The trees here
What grows in Sunshine Coast, and what that means on site
The hinterland around Maleny, Montville and the Blackall Range sits on rich volcanic soil and carries rainforest remnants, bunya and hoop pine, flooded gum and strangler figs. Trees there grow fast and large, the ground is steep, and slope stability and soil movement are part of any conversation about excavation near a root system.
The coastal strip is the opposite condition: sandy, free-draining, salt-exposed, with she-oak, pandanus, coastal banksia and tuckeroo through the foreshore and scribbly gum and blackbutt on the sand ridges behind. Root plates in loose sand behave differently under wind loading than the same species on clay, and stability is assessed accordingly.
Between the two, through Buderim, Palmwoods and the Nambour hinterland, there is a mix of both plus a legacy of old orchard and plantation country. Established properties there frequently carry very large individual specimens that predate the subdivision around them.
Sunshine Coast Council extends further north than Adam ordinarily travels. The confirmed service area runs to about Noosa; Noosa Shire is a separate council and is not one of the seven covered here. Work beyond that line is considered for suitable projects rather than assumed.

How it runs
What happens after you send the address
The shape of an engagement in the Sunshine Coast is the same as anywhere else Adam works. What changes locally is what the trees are doing and which council determines it.
- 01
The enquiry, and what it settles
The address, what you are proposing and any condition you have already received. That is frequently enough to establish which report type applies — and occasionally enough to establish that you do not need one, which is a better outcome than a report you did not require.
- 02
The site visit
Adam attends the property in the Sunshine Coast and inspects the tree. Measurements are recorded rather than estimated — diameter at the correct height, canopy spread, the defects actually present — because everything downstream is calculated from those numbers.
- 03
The report
Prepared to the requirement that applies, using the document name that requirement uses. Where Sunshine Coast Council is involved, that means the terminology the council itself uses rather than a generic report retitled.
- 04
Follow-through
Where an application allows it, Adam can lodge on your behalf and handle council queries. Where an approval requires supervision during works or certification once they are finished, that is part of the same engagement rather than a new one.

Common questions
Working in the Sunshine Coast
The confirmed service area runs north to about Noosa, and Noosa Shire is a separate council to Sunshine Coast Council rather than part of it. Work at or beyond that line is considered for suitable projects — worth asking rather than assuming in either direction.
Partly, and it is important to be clear about where the boundary is. An arborist assesses the tree's contribution — its water use, its root distribution, its condition. Establishing what is actually causing ground movement generally needs geotechnical or engineering input, and this practice will say so rather than assert something outside it.
Yes — Sunshine Coast sits inside the ordinary service area, which runs north to about Noosa, south to about Helensvale and west to about Ipswich. Work outside those bounds is considered for suitable projects rather than assumed.
That is a check against the address and Sunshine Coast Council mapping rather than a judgement about the tree, and it frequently does not need a site visit. It is worth settling first, because if the vegetation is not protected a good deal of the question falls away.
No, and that is deliberate. This is a consultancy — the assessment, the report and the supervision. Adam holds no stake in the physical work that follows, which is what allows the recommendation to be whatever the tree warrants rather than whatever generates a job.
